Roof Systems Built Around The Flashing, Not The Shingle

Homeowners shop roofs by shingle brand and price per square. Roofers know that the brand on the bundle is one of the least important variables. What decides whether a roof performs for its full service life is the condition of the decking, the underlayment and eave protection, the ventilation balance between intake and exhaust, and above all the flashing at every penetration, valley, sidewall, chimney and transition.

Beast Construction Inc installs asphalt architectural shingles and standing seam and exposed-fastener metal roofing, and we replace the details other crews reuse. Pipe boots, step flashing, kick-out flashing at wall-to-roof intersections, valley metal, drip edge and counterflashing get replaced — not caulked and covered. We remove old roofing to the deck, inspect and replace rotted sheathing, and photograph what we find so you can see it rather than take our word for it.

Because we work as a general contractor, roofing usually arrives bundled with the rest of the envelope: siding, soffit and fascia, gutters and downspouts, windows and exterior doors. That matters because water rarely respects trade boundaries. A stain on a ceiling can come from the roof, a wall flashing, a window head, or a gutter that has been dumping against the fascia for three years. One company diagnosing all of it beats three companies each clearing their own trade.

Roof Replacement — Shingle & Metal

Architectural asphalt shingles remain the value choice for most homes: good wind ratings, wide color selection, straightforward repair, and a realistic service life in the twenty-five to thirty-year range depending on climate and ventilation. We install a full system — synthetic underlayment, self-adhered membrane at eaves and valleys where the climate calls for it, new drip edge, new pipe boots, ridge ventilation and starter and hip-and-ridge components matched to the field shingle.

Metal roofing costs more up front and pays it back in longevity, wind performance, snow shedding and fire resistance. Standing seam with concealed clips is the premium assembly and the right answer on low-slope sections, complex roofs and buildings where you never want to think about the roof again. Exposed-fastener panels are an economical, honest choice on pole barns, shops and metal buildings, agricultural structures and outbuildings. We will tell you which one your roof geometry actually supports.

Roof Repair, Leaks & Storm Damage

Not every roof needs replacing. We do genuine repairs: flashing rebuilds, valley replacement, pipe boot and vent replacement, ridge and hip repair, decking and rafter repair, chimney counterflashing and cricket construction, and slope-transition corrections. When a roof has remaining life, we will say so and fix the actual leak path rather than upselling a tear-off.

After wind or hail, we document damage thoroughly with photos and measurements so you have what you need for an insurance claim, and we will meet the adjuster on site. We do not knock on doors after storms, we do not promise anyone a free roof, and we do not inflate scope for claims. If damage is cosmetic, you will hear that too.

Siding, Soffit, Fascia & Gutters

Exterior work is the other half of keeping water out. We install vinyl, fiber cement and engineered wood siding, board and batten, cedar and composite accents, aluminum and vinyl soffit and fascia, and seamless aluminum gutters with properly sized downspouts. Housewrap and flashing behind the siding get installed to manufacturer detail — which is what actually keeps the wall assembly dry.

Gutters deserve more attention than they get. A gutter that discharges next to a foundation is a basement water problem waiting to happen, so we tie downspouts into buried discharge lines and daylight them properly with our drainage crews. Combine that with correct site grading and most chronic wet-basement calls disappear.

Windows, Doors & Ventilation

We install replacement and new-construction windows, sliding and French patio doors, entry and storm doors, skylights and sun tunnels, with proper flashing, sill pans and air sealing. Attic ventilation gets balanced — soffit or edge intake matched to ridge or off-ridge exhaust — because an under-vented attic cooks shingles from below, drives ice damming in cold climates and traps moisture year-round.
