Overview
Wet And Dry Utilities, Installed To Pass Inspection
Underground utility work is inspected work. Depth of cover, bedding material, pipe bedding class, joint restraint, thrust blocking, separation distances between sewer and water, tracer wire, warning tape, backfill lift thickness and compaction — every one of those is either right or it is a failed inspection and an open trench over the weekend. We build it right the first time because reworking a utility trench is the most expensive way to learn.
Beast Construction Inc installs both wet utilities (water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, force mains, fire lines) and dry utilities (electrical primary and secondary conduit, communications and fiber conduit, gas service, site lighting bases). We handle single-family service laterals, subdivision and commercial site utility packages, well and septic-adjacent work, and replacement of failed lines under driveways, slabs and landscaping.
Trench safety is not optional on our sites. Excavations are sloped, benched or shored to depth, spoil is set back from the edge, ladders and egress are in place, and confined space rules are followed. Combine this scope with our excavation and grading and drainage work and your site utilities, storm system and finished grade all come from one contract.
Water, Sewer & Force Main Installation
We install water mains and service lines with proper cover for the local frost depth, tracer wire, valves, hydrants, meter pits and thrust restraint, then pressure-test and disinfect per the utility’s specification. Sanitary sewer work covers gravity mains and laterals laid to designed slope with laser or grade control, cleanouts, manholes, saddle and tap connections, and force mains with valve vaults where a lift station or pump is involved.
Grade is everything on gravity sewer. A lateral that bellies or runs flat will hold solids and back up no matter how new the pipe is. We set pipe on bedding, check invert elevations as we lay, and backfill in controlled lifts so nothing deflects after the trench closes. Where required, we camera the line or mandrel test it and provide the results.
Storm Drainage & Site Utility Packages
Storm systems include reinforced concrete, HDPE and PVC pipe runs, catch basins, curb inlets, junction boxes, manholes, headwalls, end sections, rip-rap outfalls, and detention or retention structures. For commercial and multi-family sites, we bid the full underground package so one contractor owns storm, sanitary, domestic water, fire line and dry utility conduit — and one superintendent is accountable when the inspector arrives.
Coordinating a site utility package means sequencing crossings and separations before anyone digs: deep sanitary first, then storm, then water, then dry utility conduit, with the required vertical and horizontal separations maintained and conflicts resolved on paper rather than in the field. That coordination is the difference between a clean site and a week of standing around.
Electrical, Gas & Communications Conduit
Dry utility work includes trenching and conduit installation for electrical primary and secondary runs, transformer and pedestal pads, meter bases and service entrances, gas service lines, site and parking lot lighting bases and conduit, and communications or fiber conduit with pull boxes, mule tape and handholes. We coordinate directly with the power company, gas utility and telecom provider so their inspection and energization schedules are not a surprise.
Property owners frequently call us for conduit to a detached garage, shop, pole barn, well pump, gate operator, generator or outbuilding. Doing that trench once — with spare conduit for the future — costs a fraction of digging up a finished lawn or a new driveway two years later. Repairs, Replacements & Emergency Utility Work
Failed clay or Orangeburg sewer laterals, leaking galvanized or polybutylene water services, crushed storm pipe under a parking lot, a line struck by another contractor — we locate, expose and repair or replace, then restore concrete, asphalt and landscaping so the repair does not leave a scar. Where trenchless methods are appropriate, we will say so rather than tearing up a mature yard for the sake of it.

How deep do underground utilities need to be buried?
Depth depends on the utility type, the local code and frost depth, and the governing utility's specification — water lines are set below the local frost line, sewer depth is driven by required slope and connection invert, and electrical and communications conduit have their own cover requirements. We build to the depth your jurisdiction and utility provider require, which is why the same job can be dug deeper in Wyoming than in Florida.
Can you connect my property to public water and sewer?
Yes, where a connection is available. That work involves a utility application, tap and connection fees paid to the provider, inspection of the tap, and often a licensed plumber for work inside the building envelope. We handle the excavation, tapping and line installation and coordinate the inspections, and we will tell you up front which fees are the utility's rather than ours.
Do you repair broken sewer or water lines?
Yes. We locate the failure, expose it, and either spot-repair or replace the run depending on the pipe's material and condition. Old clay, Orangeburg, galvanized and polybutylene lines usually justify replacement rather than repeated patching. We restore driveways, walks and landscaping afterward so the repair does not leave a permanent scar.
Who calls the utility locate service?
We do, on every job, before any excavation. Public locates through 811 are free and required. Private lines — irrigation, propane, septic, invisible fence, a line out to a shop or well — are not marked by 811, so tell us anything you know about and we can bring in a private locator when the risk warrants it.
Can you install conduit for a future shop or generator?
Absolutely, and it is one of the smartest things to do while a trench is already open. We install spare conduit with pull tape, marker posts and tracer wire so a future electrician can pull wire without digging. Doing it now typically costs a fraction of opening a finished yard or driveway later.
